CLUB NOTES
The First Team face another frustrating weekend following notification that Saturday’s scheduled trip to reigning HPL champions Sculcoates Amateurs has been postponed. This is due to the hosts’ ER Senior Cup tie against Hull City, called off last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch, taking precedence. With the Eastenders’ scheduled trip to Barton last week also falling victim to the elements, it is now three weeks since they kicked a ball. The only positive side of this is that it gives another week of recovery for those players currently carrying niggling injuries. Players are advised to check with Manager Mack for any potential rearrangement of fixture.
In the County League, Reserves manager Craig Smalley was pleased to have his “Hull City contingent” all available for action last weekend, prior to the game at Howden being called off for similar reasons to those affecting the senior squad this Saturday. Smalley said it showed the current good attitude amongst the players, in that they would rather fight for a place in the team than taking up the passes they’d already paid for. His side faces a tough test this week when Beverley Town Reserves visit Low Farm. In Division 4, the Casuals will hope to bounce back from their defeat to Waterloo when Eastrington Village come to “The Pitch Across the Ditch”.
The first meeting of the new Development Group took place last week with some really positive proposals emerging. Details will appear on the Club web site in the near future but rest assured, with the strength of feeling as was on show at The Plough that night, there are no aims to let this “South Holderness flagship” be overtaken just yet!
Congratulations to Kevin & Nicky Appleyard on the safe arrival of Holly Antoinette last Monday. Here’s hoping your handling is more secure than it is on a Saturday, Kev??!!
Finally, training continues at Withernsea High School Sports Hall every Wednesday (8pm-9pm).
