EASINGTON United’s early season mini-break was inadvertently extended last weekend when a waterlogged pitch at the Police Ground on Inglemire Lane forced the postponement of Saturday’s scheduled trip to North Ferriby Utd Reserves.
The Eastenders will hope to return this Saturday at home to Westella & Willerby.
Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas is without assistant Tony Hunt but should otherwise be looking at fielding a near full-strength squad. This includes Dan Potts who is set to play his final game for the Club before departing on a round-the-world jaunt.
Westella’s side is formed mainly from the nucleus of last season’s County League squad, following their senior team’s move into the Central Midlands League.
They have made a steady start and in one of the few games to beat the weather last Saturday recorded their first victory courtesy of a 4-2 success against St Andrews.
Saturday also sees the start of the ER County League season. In the Premier Division the Eastenders Reserves travel to Cottingham to face VIP Communications (formerly Northfield Athletic). It will be incoming management duo Craig Smalley and Darren Dawson’s first competitive match in charge after an encouraging four-match pre-season.
The Eastenders Casuals are also under a new regime this season. Iain McNaught and Stewart Cousins take the reins for their first league match in charge when Holme Rovers Reserves visit Low Farm in Division 4.

CLUB NOTES
After a waterlogged pitch forced postponement of last week’s trip to North Ferriby Utd Reserves, the Eastenders are set to return to Humber Premier League action this Saturday at home to Westella & Willerby. Asst-mgr Tony Hunt is away but otherwise Manager Mack should have a full-strength squad to choose from. Included in this is Dan Potts, set to make his final appearance for the Club before “jetting off into the sunset” after some 85 appearances in the green & gold. Our best wishes go to him and here’s hoping for a fitting send-off…
The Reserves and Casuals both begin their County League campaigns this Saturday. In the Premier Division the Reserves travel to Cottingham to face VIP Communications (formerly Northfield Athletic). It will be incoming management duo Craig Smalley and Darren Dawson’s first competitive match in charge after an encouraging four-match pre-season. As for the Casuals, Iain McNaught and Stewart Cousins take the reins for their first league match in charge when Holme Rovers Reserves visit Low Farm in Division 4.
The Eastenders have drawn Hessle Rangers away in the first round of this season’s Grays League Cup – ties to be played next month.
Thanks to all who supported last week’s Coffee Morning, which raised £130.00 for Club funds.
