Holderness Advertiser 20th August
TWO goals from Chris Frost helped Easington United get off to a winning start in the Humber Premier League against newly promoted St Andrews at Low Farm on Saturday.
Dave Walmsley gave Easington the perfect start after just 5mins only for Lee Naha to level matters for the Division 1 champions shortly after.
Andy Graham then passed up a great chance to restore the Eastenders' lead when Craig O'Grady saved his 40th minute penalty.
Frost got in on the act early in the second half, putting Easington 2-1 up but Rob Fowler tied things up for the visitors. However, a Neil Rutter header, Frost's second, Gavin Thurkettle's goal direct from a corner and sub Stuart Campbell's cool finish completed an emphatic 6-2 win.
Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas was understandably pleased by his side’s performance. However, he knows there are still areas for improvement and will look to rectify these ahead of tough away games at Hedon Rangers on Wednesday night and Pocklington Town at the weekend.
Several of the players not in the starting line-up against St Andrews were given the chance to go and get some game time in a pre-season run for the Reserves against their Withernsea counterparts on Monday.
The Reserves were looking to continue the momentum built up by a 3-0 win over Hedon Rangers Reserves last week. They continue their preparations at home to Driffield League champions FC Corner Bar this Saturday.

CLUB NOTES
There was success elsewhere for the Club at the weekend as the “Easington Fifths” quintet of Dan “The Cat” Clubley, Clint “Club Foot” Keyworth, John “Sniffer” Clarke, Ricky “Stain Remover” Biglin and Steve “Hot Shot” Mullett stormed to victory in the Easington & Kilnsea Charities 5-a-Sides at the Youth Club. Hearty congratulations go out from the Committee!!
This week’s action sees the Eastenders travel to Pocklington Town on Saturday and Malet Lambert on Wednesday. Both games saw United beaten last year so Manager Mack will hope for a change of fortune this time round.
Saturday also sees the Reserves involved in a game. They entertain Driffield League champions FC Corner Bar at Low Farm in a friendly and then round off their warm-up schedule when they meet Roos in the annual Barney Moverley Memorial Trophy game at Low Farm on Thursday week (28th).
Thanks to Alan Saxton for Saturday’s match sponsorship. Also thanks to Technostics Ltd and GRD Engineering Ltd for their very generous season-long sponsorship packages.
This is the last reminder for anybody wishing to join the Eastenders 100 Club, which kicks off again on 26 August; if you’ve not received an application form but would like to join, please ring 01964 650376.
