A STIRRING second half fight back enabled Easington United to arrest a run of four successive Humber Premier League defeats at Low Farm on Saturday.
The Eastenders came from two down to claim a deserved point against Pocklington Town thanks to second half goals from Ollie Musgrove and Neil Rutter. Indeed, they should really have gone on to claim their first win since September; Town keeper Carl Silburn producing a superb save to deny Darren Thompson and Dan Potts heading just wide from an injury time free-kick.
In view of his current crop of absentees, which was compounded at the weekend when substitute Chris Senior was forced out with injury just before kick-off, manager Dave Mackay-Dundas expressed his pride at the performance of an inexperienced team that included four teenagers.
The squad situation doesn’t look like getting much better ahead of this weekend’s trip to Malet Lambert. Steve Harrod, JP Johnson and Andy Graham are all likely to be missing again, while Mike Nicholson is still struggling with injury. Craig Smalley, however, should return.
The current problems are being felt keenest down at County League level, where a depleted Reserve side were hammered 7-0 at fellow strugglers Bridlington Lion. The result leaves them hovering just above the relegation places in the Premier Division.
In Division 4 the Casuals temporarily eased their worries with a resounding 5-0 win over Darleys Old Boys, David Clubley grabbing a hat-trick. The game marked the opening of the new “Pitch Across The Ditch” at the Club’s Low Farm Recreation & Sports Ground home.

CLUB NOTES
The First Team go to Malet Lambert on Saturday, hoping to repeat their win of three weeks ago. That 1-0 victory confirmed a place in the ER Senior Cup quarter-finals but it is now league points that are of vital importance to Manager Mack. Harrod, Johnson and Graham are all still absent, while there are injury doubts over Nicholson, Smalley and Senior.
The Reserves go to Cottingham to face Northfield Athletic with Wilson unable to count on Adam Metcalf. Ruled out by a chest infection last weekend the defender – impressive in recent weeks – is away this Saturday also.
The only home game of the weekend comes on “The Pitch Across The Ditch” where the Casuals entertain local rivals Withernsea Thirds in Division 4. Chairman Clubley could have Broom, Carrick, Clubley R, Harris and Ward all vying for places but could also see his team disrupted by call-ups from above.
Thanks to Thompsons of York for last week’s HPL match sponsorship and to Bonus Electrical for the sponsorship of the Casuals’ historic first game on The Pitch Across The Ditch. The winning Golden Goal time in the Pocklington game was 36mins.
Danny Campbell’s new “Football Academy” continues its regular Saturday morning sessions at Low Farm. Any boy or girl aged 12 and under is welcome to attend the sessions, which take place between 10am and 11.30am.
The winners of November’s Eastenders 100 Club are: £25 – 45, Peter Law; £15 – 141, Tom Graham; £10 – 43, Doug Clubley; £5 – 70, Madison Leigh; £5 – 14, Anthony Barnett.
