Holderness Advertiser 21st November
MISTAKES again proved costly as Easington United slumped to a fourth successive Humber Premier League defeat on Saturday. The Eastenders went down 2-3 at Hornsea Town with all three goals being attributable to individual errors.
An incident-packed game almost started perfectly for Easington with Steve Harrod passing up a gilt-edged opportunity after just thirty seconds. But the visitors soon found themselves two goals down. Craig Smalley lost possession to allow Ryan Silvestri to give Town a 10th minute lead and just a minute later the same player benefited again after goalkeeper Kevin Appleyard completely missed his attempted clearance.
Easington fought back well and Daniel Medforth reduced arrears from the penalty spot on 15mins with Harrod then levelling matters five minutes later.
In the 26th minute the Eastenders were presented with a great chance to take the lead when goalkeeper Rich Dexter’s foul on Jimmy Neilson gave them a second penalty; only this time Medforth blazed over the top.
Hornsea missed a spot kick of their own on the hour, Denham Kite hitting the bar, but they snatched all three points when Chris Langley benefited from a Medforth mistake to score the decisive third goal.
Having been without four first choice players at Hornsea, Easington manager Dave Mackay-Dundas must now cope without the services of leading scorer Harrod this weekend when Pocklington Town visit Low Farm.
The Eastenders Reserves crashed out of the League Cup at home to Wawne Ferry last week, losing 2-5 with player asst-manager Craig Foster scoring both goals. They return to County League Premier Division action at Bridlington Lion this Saturday while the Casuals make their long-awaited return to Low Farm in Division 4. They entertain Darleys Old Boys on the new “Pitch Across The Ditch”.

CLUB NOTES
For the first time ever there are two games taking place simultaneously at Low Farm this Saturday as the new “Pitch Across The Ditch” plays host to Easington United Casuals’ County League Division 4 meeting with Darleys Old Boys. It will therefore be hoped the locals can attract more players than the five confirmed as available for last week’s league cup tie at Gilberdyke, which had to be conceded as a result.
For this to happen, much will therefore depend on the situation higher up the pecking order and at least First Team boss Dave Mack should have some bodies back for the home game against Pocklington Town in the Humber Premier League. Ollie Musgrove, Jamie Cousins and Mike Nicholson are all hopeful of a return although Andy Graham is still absent and both Craig Smalley and leading scorer Steve Harrod are also away.
As for the Reserves, they go to Bridlington Lion in the County League Premier Division with returning manager Mike Wilson once again looking like having an anxious wait to see what strength he has at his disposal.
Danny Campbell’s new “Football Academy” continues its regular Saturday morning sessions at Low Farm with last week’s attendance proving the best yet. Any boy or girl aged 12 and under is welcome to attend the sessions, which take place between 10am and 11.30am.
Thanks to everybody who supported the Coffee Morning held in the Youth Club last Saturday. £136.00 was raised for Club funds. This week’s event is being held in aid of the Easington Recreation & Sports Association, starts 10am.
The Eastenders 100 Club draw for November was set to take place at Tuesday’s monthly Committee Meeting – winners to be notified via next week’s Gazette report.
