EASINGTON United’s poor run of form continued with a third successive league defeat last Saturday. Struggling South Bank side LSS Lucarlys scored in each half to record a 2-0 win and end The Eastenders’ previously unblemished home record.
Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas was lost for words at the end and his disappointment was compounded by injury to Jimmy Neilson; the striker now looks very doubtful for Saturday’s trip to Malet Lambert in the East Riding Senior Cup.
There was no lack of effort from the home side but they appeared painfully short on ways to break down a visitors’ defence marshalled superbly by player-manager (and former Grimsby Town man) Tommy Watson.
Defender Jake Lamming forced home a 31st minute corner to give LSS the lead with Louis Volley seizing on some shoddy defending to make it 2-0 six minutes into the second half. The visitors could have had more goals on the break as Easington searched in vain for a way back.
Neilson is not his manager’s only likely absentee this Saturday. Skipper Neil Rutter looks set to miss out again with a foot injury, while Andy Graham is at a wedding.
There was better news from the Reserves who put their County League woes behind them to ease into the quarter-finals of the ER Senior Country Cup. A Darren Thompson hat-trick and goals from Anthony Barnett and Matty Findley helped them to a 5-1 win over Beverley Town Beavers.
In the County League Division 4 the Casuals went down 0-3 at Brandesburton Thirds.

CLUB NOTES
There are just two fixtures for Easington supporters this weekend. On Saturday, the senior squad travel to Malet Lambert YC with a place in the quarter-finals of the East Riding Senior Cup at stake. Manager Mack has doubts over Neil Rutter and Jimmy Neilson, while Andy Graham is definitely out due to prior commitments.
The Reserves entertain Holme Rovers in the County League Premier Division hoping to build on last week’s win and clinch a first league “double” of the season. PLEASE NOTE: this is an amendment to the list printed on the monthly fixture posters now on display around the usual outlets – the Wawne Ferry league cup-tie takes place on 17 Nov.
The Casuals are without a fixture. However, the big news for them is that thanks to recent work at Low Farm, the Eastenders’ third-string are now set to return to Low Farm in time for their next scheduled home game, against Darleys Old Boys, on 24 November. This is due to the completion of markings and the erection of goal posts on the new “Pitch Across The Ditch”, for which our thanks go to Brim, Trev, Steve and Dave H, with a special mention to Tim Biglin and Centrica Storage Ltd for their kind support.
Thanks to Holderness Tyre Services Ltd for Saturday’s match sponsorship. The winning Golden Goal time was 31 minutes.
The winners of the latest Eastenders 100 Club Draw, carried out at the monthly Committee Meeting on 30 October were: £25 – No.40, Frank Douglas; £15 – No.138, Jamie Cousins; £10 – No.20, Christine Ward; £5 – No.100, Irene Lusmore; £5 – No.39, Jack Fordyce
The Fun Junior Football Sessions continue at Low Farm this Saturday (10am). Any boy or girl aged 12 and under is welcome.
