Holderness Advertiser 31st October
EASINGTON United slipped up again on Saturday, going down 2-1 at Pocklington Town in the Humber Premier League. It was the Eastenders’ second league defeat in a row and their third in four matches during October – continuing the trend of recent years in which this month has become synonymous with disappointments for the Club.
Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas made no excuses for the defeat, although he was left frustrated by the award of the free-kick from which Town scored their second goal, and the non-award of a penalty when striker Jimmy Neilson appeared to be hauled back in the area.
Easington were given the perfect start when Steve Harrod scored after 78 seconds and it appeared that their luck might be in when, within another minute, goalkeeper Kevin Appleyard saved Mark Watkinson’s penalty. Even more so when Dan Boneham passed up two good chances to equalise just before half-time.
Boneham, however, made amends when seizing on a mistake to level matters three minutes into the second half and two minutes later Pocklington assured themselves of the points when Graeme Whitehead forced the ball over from a controversially awarded free-kick.
Mackay-Dundas described his side’s display as the “most disappointing” so far this season and he will be keen for them to return to winning ways this weekend when South Bank side LSS Lucarlys are the visitors to Low Farm.
Completing a bad day for the Club, both Easington’s County League teams also lost. In the Premier Division the Reserves were beaten 3-2 at home by Howden Amateurs, while the Casuals went down by the same score at Hedon Rangers Reserves in Division 4.

CLUB NOTES
Fixtures this week involve the First Team at home to South Bank side LSS Lucarlys in the Humber Premier League; the Reserves at Humbleton, hoping a change of scenery may provide a change of luck as they entertain Beverley Town Reserves in the ER Senior Country Cup, and at time of going to print, the Casuals’ fixture against Market Weighton in County League Division 4 has been switched to our opponents’ ground. Check with Doug for details on this final one.
The Fun Junior Football Sessions resume at Low Farm this Saturday (10am). Any boy or girl aged 12 and under is welcome.
The first Players’ Reps meeting has been provisionally arranged for Wednesday, 7 November in Ottringham. Anybody with topics for discussion should contact Neil Rutter, Daniel Campbell, Trevor Biglin and/or any other of the reps ASAP.
Finally we are pleased to announce that since these reports were compiled, Ricky Biglin’s missing boot has been located and like Cinderella’s slipper it still fits perfectly. Thankfully, there will be no further need for Doug Clubley to use up 12 extra socks as his midfield maestro attempts to get his size 7 feet into one of Clubbo Junior’s size 12 bayets!
