EASINGTON United maintained their solid start in the HPL Premier Division with a hard-earned point at Hutton Cranswick United last Saturday.
Mike Nicholson gave the Eastenders a 15th minute lead only for Mike Tate to level matters seven minutes later.
The home side had player-manager Andrew Dixon sent off ten minutes into the second half, following a second yellow card, but for quarter of an hour or so this actually seemed to affect Easington more than their hosts. It wasn’t until the final quarter that the visitors looked like making their numerical superiority count but both Steve Harrod and Paul Wilkinson failed to find the target from promising positions.
Afterwards, manager Dave Mackay-Dundas acknowledged his disappointment at his team's inability to force the win. However, he added: “It’s a sign of the raised expectations this season that the players were disappointed at only coming away with a point. Hutton Cranswick is a hard place to come and they’ve already beaten some good sides here this season. If you’d have offered me a point at two o’clock I’d have gladly taken it.”
The result took Easington one point clear at the top, ahead of Beverley Town who were without a game. This weekend the Eastenders entertain Hessle Rangers, with Paul Wilkinson (hamstring) and Stuart Campbell (ribs) the only doubts from Saturday’s game.
In the ER County League Premier Division, Easington’s reserve side go to Holme Rovers on Saturday looking to repair things after an emphatic home defeat at the hands of North Ferriby Athletic.

CLUB NOTES
The Eastenders entertain Hessle Rangers at Low Farm in the HPL Premier Division this Saturday. Keith Picken’s side have had something of a torrid opening to the season but always provide enthusiastic opponents and their record at The Farm prior to last season’s defeat was an impressive one. Manager Mack has slight doubts over Wilkinson and Campbell although both are expected to be fit. Danny Medforth, who missed out last week, could return with the reserves should he have recovered from an ankle injury.
The Reserves go to Holme Rovers looking to rebuild following their disappointing opening day defeat. Tony Hunt begins a suspension and there are injury doubts over Chris Senior, Ian Barrow and Pasha Brown.
At time of going to print, it is unclear whether or not the Casuals will begin their County League Division 4 campaign this Saturday. For further details ring Doug Clubley on 01964 650376.
Various thanks this week: To Bonus Electrical for their kind sponsorship of Saturday’s game; to BP Exploration and Sangwin’s for their help in situating the new third team changing accommodation at Low Farm; to BP again, on behalf of the Football Club and the Easington Recreation & Sports Association for the original donation of said items; and last but not least to Jeff Sugden for the tremendous amount of time and effort spent on water-connection and other duties at the ground last week! It’s greatly appreciated.
Finally, a reminder that the weekly Fun Junior Coaching sessions continue at Low Farm every Saturday (10am)
