Holderness Advertiser 28th February
THE weather again intervened to disrupt the Humber Premier League campaign last weekend with no Premier Division games surviving the rainfall of the preceding days.
For Easington United it was the third time unlucky in their attempts to play local rivals Withernsea, a waterlogged Hull Road pitch forcing postponement on Friday afternoon.
The Eastenders will hope for better luck this week when they are set to play the first of back-to-back home games. Hornsea Town are Saturday’s visitors to Low Farm with Hedon Rangers scheduled to come a week later.
Hornsea are enjoying a fine season in the league and recently dumped Easington out of the Grays League Cup.
Eastenders manager Dave Mackay-Dundas has full-strength squad available as his side aim to repeat August’s 4-1 win at the Hollis Rec. Skipper Neil Rutter and Craig Smalley are both available, after work commitments and suspension respectively, with Rob Kamis and Luke Jeffery both included having missed out on the win at Hedon Rangers a fortnight ago.
Easington’s two County League squads also hope to return to action on Saturday. The Reserves are scheduled to meet Sculcoates Amateurs Reserves away in the third round of the H.E. Dean Cup, while the Casuals entertain Holme Rovers Reserves at Humbleton in Division 4.
Holderness Gazette 1st March
At time of going to print it appears highly unlikely that any of Easington United’s three teams will return to action this Saturday, following another blank fixture-list last weekend.
Saturated pitches caused postponement of the Eastenders’ scheduled HPL Premier Division game at Withernsea and the County League fixtures involving the Reserves and the Casuals. With heavy rain again forecast during the week, the chances of those pitches becoming playable seem somewhat remote.
Should conditions improve and allow Low Farm to dry out sufficiently, it will play host to one of the HPL Premier Division’s form teams, Hornsea Town. Despite defeat last week at the hands of Reckitts in the ER Senior Cup, Town are enjoying their most productive campaign yet in the Humber Premier League, in which they currently lie fifth with games in hand on the teams around them. They’re also through to the last eight of the Grays League Cup having recently beaten the Eastenders in the last round.
Easington manager Dave Mack is hoping his team can avenge that defeat and, at the same time, complete a league ‘double’ over Town following August’s 4-1 win at The Hollis Recreation Ground.
The Eastenders manager should have a full-strength squad available to choose from. Skipper Neil Rutter and Craig Smalley are both available, after work commitments and suspension respectively, with Rob Kamis and Luke Jeffery both included having missed out on the win at Hedon Rangers a fortnight ago.
As for the County League squads, the Reserves are scheduled to meet Sculcoates Amateurs Reserves away in the third round of the H.E. Dean Cup, while the Casuals entertain Holme Rovers Reserves at Humbleton in Division 4.
