Easington scoop regional awards!
EASINGTON United may not have enjoyed their most successful season on the field but the Club can certainly celebrate their achievements off it, following the announcement that they have been named Yorkshire’s FA Charter Standard Adult Club of the Year.
The Football Association Charter Standard Scheme is the “best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for all clubs outside the Football League and Premier League. As a benchmark for quality, it will improve the playing experience for all.”
The Eastenders, who gained Charter Standard status in 2005, clinched the East Riding County FA award before going on to compete for the Yorkshire Regional nomination. They achieved this by overcoming adult clubs from the North Riding, West Riding and Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA’s and are now up against eight other regional winners in the National finals.
ERCFA County Development Manager Adam Lowthorpe described it as “a fantastic achievement that recognizes the efforts that everyone at the club has made”.
Belying their size, the village of Easington has fielded three open-age teams in Saturday football for the past seven years. Two of these are in the top divisions of their respective leagues and the Club has established itself as “a flagship” for football in Holderness.
Although unable to compete size-wise with some of its neighbours, especially in junior football, Easington are constantly seeking to develop both on and off the field. Their dedicated Committee is also involved with the local Rec. & Sports Association in the exciting long-term development of their Low Farm ground, which will hopefully ensure that “The Eastenders” continue to set the standards for years to come.
It is hoped that the Club will receive their awards prior to kick-off at the Hull City v Osasuna friendly, which takes place at the KC Stadium on Saturday, 9 August.
