South Holderness Cup Round 2
Withernsea v Eastenders
Tue 13 May - Hull Road, Withernsea - Kick-Off: 6.30pm
The Eastenders begin their defence of the South Holderness Cup this evening when they go to Withernsea for a second round tie.
Manager Mack is refusing to reveal details of team selection, with the only change to the provisional squad announced last week being the naming of a “20th man”. Originally thought to be either Ollie Musgrove or Luke Jeffrey, the ongoing unavailability of both youngsters has prompted Mack to add recent signing Craig Lenham to the list.
There is a chance that JP Johnson, Kevin Milner, Mike Nicholson and Tony Hunt could all be available, on top of the 13 players at Mack's disposal for Saturday’s final league game. The only two definite absentees are the suspended Stuart Campbell and the manager himself following a recent knee problem.
Whatever line-up Mack eventually settles on, he is keen for his players to build on Saturday’s first win in ten games. The victory over Malet Lambert has helped restore a lot of confidence within the ranks although, to be fair, the spirit in the dressing room had remained positive throughout the recent struggles.
Withernsea also ended their HPL campaign with a win (also at the expense of Malet) and will fancy their chances of ending their long barren run against their local rivals. They booked their place in the second round with a comprehensive win over Hedon Rangers Juniors and go into tonight seeking revenge for last season’s penalty shootout defeat at the semi-final stage.
The winners of tonight’s tie will face Hedon Rangers at home in the semi-finals.
Squad (from): K Appleyard, D Medforth, P Morrow, D Potts, A Graham, J Cousins, N Rutter, J Mee, C Frost, A Barnett, S Harrod, D Thompson, A Metcalf, K Milner, T Hunt, M Nicholson, JP Johnson, C Lenham
