HPL Premier Division
Eastenders v Malet Lambert YC
Sat 10th May - Low Farm - Kick-Off 2.00pm
The Eastenders go into their final Humber Premier League game of the season without assistant-manager Tony Hunt, who has failed to recover from a recent Achilles problem. With Kevin Milner working, Mike Nicholson not quite ready for a return and Jon-Paul Johnson unavailable due to “personal issues”, Manager Mack will have just the two substitutes at his disposal for the visit of Malet Lambert YC.
Skipper Neil Rutter would appear the favourite for Hunt’s central defensive position, with the likelihood being that Steve Harrod will fill the vacant space in the starting eleven. However, Mack is still to decide on whether that would be as a straightforward swap in the middle of the park to repeat the 4-5-1 formation that worked so well last week, or in a 4-4-2 with Chris Frost pushed up front and Jamie Cousins switched back to right midfield, or even as possible strike partner to James Mee himself.
With the South Holderness Cup tie against Withernsea coming up on Tuesday, Mack is anxious for his side to get back to winning ways this afternoon against a team in similarly poor form to the locals.
Malet Lambert have suffered five straight league defeats since a draw at Hornsea at the start of April. The latest of these came at Withernsea on Wednesday night when they were beaten 4-3 and had two players sent off. During this miserable run of form the east Hull side also crashed to an embarrassing 0-6 defeat at the hands of Pocklington Town in the Grays Cup semi-final.
The teams have already met twice on James Reckitt Avenue this season. A JP Johnson goal completed a 1-0 win for Easington there in the ER Senior Cup while Simon Spencer's solitary header completed a similar victory for the hosts in the league.
This afternoon’s game is being kindly sponsored by Technostics Ltd, official sponsors of the Eastenders Club Web Site as well as sponsors of several first team players and matches. The Club would like to thank Peter & Harvey Dettmar and colleagues for their continued support.
With this being the final home game of the season, we would also like to thank all our match sponsors of 2007/08.
Squad: K Appleyard, D Medforth, P Morrow, D Potts, A Graham, J Cousins, N Rutter, J Mee, C Frost, A Barnett, S Harrod, D Thompson, A Metcalf
