Holderness Advertiser 30th April
DESPITE seeing his side slip to a fourth successive defeat and losing youngster James Robinson to a serious injury, Easington United manager Dave Mackay-Dundas remains upbeat ahead of the final two league games of the season.
The Eastenders lost 3-2 at home to North Ferriby United Reserves on Saturday and are now consigned to their lowest league position in the Humber Premier League for five years. However, the performance of the large number of youngsters introduced over recent games has convinced the boss that the future remains bright.
Mackay-Dundas himself marked his 250th Easington appearance by coming off the bench to score a cracking goal and set up an exciting final ten minutes at 2-3. Earlier, Liam Johnson had given the visitors a 17th minute lead before Anthony Barnett tied things up with his first goal at this level four minutes later.
Joe Aldous restored Ferriby’s advantage on the stroke of half-time and Johnson’s second goal, on 68mins, appeared to have sealed matters. But after play had been held up for ten minutes to allow an ambulance on to the ground to ferry the unfortunate Robinson to hospital, Easington staged a spirited finish. Unfortunately they only had their manager’s goal to show for it.
At least Mackay-Dundas could have some experienced players back for the remaining fixtures, beginning at Westella & Willerby this Saturday. Andy Graham, JP Johnson, Steve Harrod and Kevin Milner could all be available although recent history would suggest that this could all change again before the weekend.

CLUB NOTES
Since the First Team report was penned it has been confirmed that James Robinson has sustained ruptured knee ligaments and was due to be operated on earlier this week. The best wishes of all at the Club go to him for a speedy recovery.
The First Team go to Westella & Willerby this Saturday for their penultimate HPL game of the season. Andy Graham, Jon-Paul Johnson, Kevin Milner and Steve Harrod could all be available for selection although previous experience will have taught Manager Mack to believe this when he sees it!
The Reserves’ final league game at home to Bridlington Lion could well be brought forward to this Saturday (3 May) at Low Farm following the problem with the original date that was highlighted in last week’s notes. Please check our official club web site for further news.
The South Holderness Cup second round ties involving our two squads are still to be confirmed although it appears likely that the B-squad’s clash versus Hedon Rangers Juniors will take place on “The Pitch Across The Ditch” on Saturday, 10 May at 2.00pm. The senior squad’s trip to Withernsea is likely to go ahead one evening the following week – please check our web site for further news.
Training continues at Withernsea High School every Wednesday (7pm-8pm) while the Junior Football Academy continues on Saturday mornings (10-11.30am).
The Club has confirmed a sponsorship tie-up for the new away strip to be worn during 2008/09. Our thanks go to local company J & S Construction & Development for their kind support.
The winners of the Eastenders 100 Club April draw are: £25.00, No.67: David Clubley; £15.00, No.95: Ted Stamp; £10.00, No.63: Iain McNaught; £5.00, No.102: Peter Blood; £5.00, No.134: Craig Pickersgill
