Holderness Advertiser 23rd April
The wait for a win goes on for Dave Mackay-Dundas’ young Easington United side, following a third straight defeat last Saturday. The Eastenders have now gone six matches since last tasting victory and are in desperate need of a confidence lift when North Ferriby United Reserves provide the opposition at Low Farm this weekend.
Once again, manager Mackay-Dundas was forced to field a young side for the visit of fourth-placed Beverley Town. No fewer than seven of his squad were under twenty years old but again they belied their inexperience to play their part in a contest dominated by a strong wind.
With conditions in their favour in the first half, Easington dominated and both Paul Morrow and Andy Graham struck the woodwork.
After the break Beverley took control and they also hit the post twice. Jon Ricardo was denied first before Mike Evins' 68th minute shot rebounded back to Craig Lamplough who slotted home.
Chris Frost passed up a good chance to level matters ten minutes from time but five minutes later substitute Danny Cattle scored a second for Town.
With five players out for the remainder of the season through injury and JP Johnson and Luke Jeffery also both struggling to be fit, Mackay-Dundas has little room for manoeuvre ahead of Saturday’s clash. He must simply hope his enthusiastic youngsters can learn quickly!
There was better news for the Club in the South Holderness Cup where the Casuals progressed thanks to a 2-0 win over Paull Wanderers. Andy Milbank and Dave Clubley were the scorers.
Off the field, the final balance of the recent “Hugging The Coast Bike Ride” saw £3,523.71 raised in sponsorship, £2,000 of which was used to fund Jon Paul Walker’s long-awaited trip to the London Eye. Event organiser Craig Foster would like to thank everybody for their generous support.

CLUB NOTES
The First Team are at home again this Saturday when North Ferriby United Reserves are the visitors. Manager Mack will hope he has no new injury worries to contend with but JP Johnson, Luke Jeffery and Luke Smith look unlikely to return.
The Reserves’ final league game at home to Bridlington Lion has now been scheduled for 10 May according to the County League web site – unfortunately that is another date on which the First Team are already at home! Please check our official club web site for further news.
The B-squad’s reward for their South Holderness Cup win is a home tie against Hedon Rangers Reserves, date still TBC. The A-squad received a bye and have drawn the winners of the Hedon Rangers Juniors v Withernsea tie away in round 2; this game was due to take place last night – please check our web site for further news.
Training continues at Withernsea High School every Wednesday (7pm-8pm) while the Junior Football Academy continues on Saturday mornings (10-11.30am).
Away from the playing side, we are pleased to announce that a total of £3523.71 was raised by the “Hugging The Coast Bike Ride” held at Easter. Of this £2,000 was donated to help Jon Paul Walker realise his dream of a trip to the London Eye. Event organiser Craig Foster would like to thank all who supported and/or too part in the ride.
Thanks from the Club to all who supported Saturday’s Coffee Morning, which raised £110.50 for Club funds. Thanks also to Middlegate (Europe) Ltd for Saturday’s match sponsorship. The winning Golden Goal time was 68mins.
