Holderness Advertiser 19th March
THE late dismissal of Stuart Campbell compounded Easington United’s frustration as they failed to break down a resolute Hornsea Town at Low Farm.
The Eastenders’ left back saw red following an off-the-ball incident in injury time of a goalless affair that was far from drab. Chances were missed at both ends with Andy Graham and Hornsea’s Dean Jennings both hitting the woodwork.
Despite his disappointment at the result, manager Dave Mackay-Dundas was pleased with the way his seriously ravaged squad had responded to his criticisms following successive away defeats.
The result does little to improve either team’s Humber Premier League placing. However, this is no longer at the top of the agenda for the Eastenders in the wake of the news released on the HPL web site last week that they are one of three clubs who have been “provisionally accepted” into the Central Midlands League for season 2008/09. An official statement from the Club on the matter is expected after tonight’s Special General Meeting.
On Saturday Easington meet another of the aforementioned three clubs when they visit Westella & Willerby. Ollie Musgrove and Luke Jeffery are both away, Mike Nicholson is still injured while Steve Harrod has joined Bottesford Town.
Elsewhere within the Club, the Reserves took a further step to ensuring their ER County League Premier Division survival thanks to a 2-1 win at Skidby Millers. Craig Foster and Luke Smith were on target as the Eastenders came from behind to clinch a vital 3pts.
In Division 4, despite a much improved performance, the Casuals went down 0-4 at home to title favourites Westella & Willerby Juniors. The Casuals wrap up their campaign away at Withernsea Thirds on Saturday.

CLUB NOTES
Three games on the agenda this Saturday. In the HPL Premier Division the Eastenders go to Westella & Willerby with Danny Medforth, Luke Jeffery and Ollie Musgrove all absent. Uncertainty also surrounds the availability of Mike Nicholson. The hosts are also enduring a rough time of things at the moment – their appearance in next week’s ERCFA Senior Cup semi-final notwithstanding of course – but always provide difficult opponents.
In the County League Premier Division, Mike Wilson will anxiously await Dave Mack’s team selection before naming his squad to take on Bridlington Lion at Low Farm. The Stiffs are without Steve Eldon, Matty Findley, James Robinson and possibly Darren Dawson but should welcome Darren Thompson back to the fray. They are also in search of revenge for their worst result of the season – a 7-0 drubbing in the away fixture.
The Casuals wrap up their Division 4 campaign at Withernsea 3rds with Steve Eldon returning to the ranks in goal. The locals will look to end on a high after seven straight defeats.
There was no winning Golden Goal time on Saturday. The Club would like to thank Saturday’s match sponsors Holderness Tyre Services Ltd and Bonus Electrical for their continued support of The Eastenders.
Best wishes from the Club to Matty and Aime on the occasion of their wedding this Saturday.
The Junior Football Academy resumes on Saturday (10-11.30am). In case of adverse weather / pitch conditions, please check with Daniel on 07703 517525 beforehand.
