Holderness Advertiser 20th February
EASINGTON United bounced back from their previous week’s cup disappointment with a league success at Hessle Rangers that was even more comfortable than the 3-0 score line would suggest.
Against a side buoyed by recent back-to-back wins over their two main Humber Premier League relegation rivals, the Eastenders produced some of their best football of the season.
The ‘new look’ Blackburn Sports Ground in Brough simply inspires you to go and play football and this is exactly what Easington did, albeit on a deceptively difficult playing surface.
The visitors effectively ended the game as a contest inside quarter of an hour thanks to two goals in the space of four minutes from Neil Rutter. Further chances came the way of Rutter, Steve Harrod, Dan Potts and Mike Nicholson before the latter wrapped up victory just past the hour mark.
While the result didn’t improve the Eastenders’ league position, those elsewhere meant that there is now a gap of 6pts between the top seven and eighth placed Westella & Willerby.
Things are now set up perfectly for Saturday’s visit of Hutton Cranswick United, a place and 3pts above Easington and 2-0 winners over Beverley Town last weekend.
Easington boss Dave Mackay-Dundas looks likely to keep the same squad although skipper Neil Rutter has a slight calf problem. Andy Graham and new signing Paul Morrow could come into contention.
Both the Eastenders County League squads went down to defeat on Saturday. The Reserves lost 0-4 at home to Beverley Town Reserves in the Premier Division and the Casuals were beaten by the same score at Division 4 promotion hopefuls Shiptonthorpe United.

CLUB NOTES
Low Farm hosts two games this Saturday. On the Main Pitch the Eastenders entertain Hutton Cranswick in the Humber Premier League. The visitors arrive buoyed by a 2-0 win over Beverley last week and they boast an impressive recent record at The Farm. With two places and 3pts between the teams it has all the makings of a cracker. Manager Mack is hoping to keep the same squad although Steve Harrod (work) and Neil Rutter (calf) are doubts. Andy Graham could be available for a return.
On the “Pitch Across The Ditch” the Casuals entertain Brandesburton 3rds in County League Division 4. The Reserves, meanwhile, are on their travels in the Premier Division; they go to Skidby Millers.
The Junior Football Academy continues this Saturday (10-11.30am). Please check with Daniel on 07703 517525 beforehand.
