ALTHOUGH they’re not badly placed in the Humber Premier League, it’s probably fair to say that the East Riding Senior Cup offers Easington United their best chance of silverware this season.
As such this Saturday’s quarter-final tie against Beverley Town takes on even greater importance.
The Eastenders come into the game having had a week’s break following their hard-fought win at Hedon a fortnight ago. Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas has a near full-strength squad to choose from although doubts surround Kevin Milner; the left back having been the subject of official approaches by both Bridlington Town and Scarborough Athletic in recent weeks. Otherwise, injured defender John Batch is the only definite absentee.
Easington have reached the third round stage with single goal victories at Hornsea and Malet Lambert, while a similar 1-0 result at North Ferriby Utd Reserves gave opponents Beverley their place in the last eight.
Town arrive at Low Farm buoyed by an impressive 2-1 league success at leaders Smith & Nephew last weekend, a result that keeps them well in contention for a first ever HPL title.
When the two teams met in the league at Norwood earlier this season Mike Evins scored at both ends in a 1-1 draw. The nature of that game would suggest we could be in for a very competitive affair this Saturday.
Meanwhile the Eastenders Reserves’ hopes of County FA Cup glory were well and truly quashed by Malton & Norton at Low Farm last weekend. The former Malton Bacon Factory sliced through the home defence at ease to record a 5-0 victory.
The Reserves have no game this weekend, while in County League Division 4 the Casuals go to Molescroft Rangers Reserves.

CLUB NOTES
THE EASTENDERS senior squad make their attempt to reach the County FA Cup semi-finals this Saturday. They entertain Beverley Town in third round of the ERCFA Senior Cup at Low Farm (kick-off 2.00pm). Manager Dave Mack has a virtually full-strength squad to choose from, with only John Batch still sidelined by injury. However, Craig Smalley has still to prove his fitness after injury against Sculcoates, while Kevin Milner’s inclusion may well depend on the result of official approaches by Bridlington Town and Scarborough Athletic.
IN THE ER County League, the Reserves have no scheduled fixture this Saturday but in Division 4 the Casuals are at bottom club Molescroft Rangers Reserves looking to bounce back from defeat by Hedon Rangers last time out.
THANKS to Brummitt Animal Health for their sponsorship of Saturday’s game. The winning ‘Golden Goal’ time was 15 minutes.
DUE to Daniel Campbell’s absence, there is no Junior Football Academy again this Saturday. Weather permitting, it will resume on 16 February.
THE CLUB have announced plans for this year’s main fundraising event, which comes in the form of a Sponsored Bike Ride taking in some of the “Venues of Memories” over the Eastenders’ past sixty years. Setting off at Bridlington’s Queensgate ground, the route (which remains to be finalised) stretches some 80 miles, taking in The Balk at Pocklington and Dene Park, Dunswell en route to a finish down the East End. Proceeds from the event are set to be split between the Club and a charity of choice. Further details can be obtained by ringing Craig on 01964 630933.
