Clubley praises his beleaguered battlers DADS FC 5 – 0 Easington Utd Casuals
ANOTHER day another defeat for the Casuals but at least this one was accompanied by a ringing endorsement of his troops’ spirit by manager Clubley. Arriving at the unkempt Dene Park home of league leaders DADS FC – long grass and illegible markings – without six first-choice players, the Casuals could have been forgiven for simply falling apart. But, with ‘Dooley’ Cousins and Dave Hurren putting their experience to good use, they set out with every intention of giving their hosts a run for their money. Indeed, the locals could have been a couple of goals to the good by the time the Hull side broke the deadlock; and they were still very much in things at the break by which time the Dads had doubled their lead. Although the full time score of 5-0 is emphatic sounding enough, Clubley saw it as a touch harsh. He was particularly fulsome in his praise of striker ‘Bezza’ Barnett whose non-stop endeavour deserved more reward – on this evidence a return to the reserves cannot be too far away. Fellow teenager Brett Fisk (another subject of much “talk” on the local rumour mill) also received praise for his leadership at the back and there were positives to be gleaned throughout the team. With hopes of some returns this Saturday, perhaps the first points of the season might be gained when Leven Members visit Low Farm? Here’s hoping…
