Holderness Advertiser 21st February
DARREN Thompson scored twice on his first appearance of the season as Easington United maintained their recent fine Humber Premier League form against Hedon Rangers at the Destiny Fitness ground.
In the only Premier Division game to beat the weather, the Eastenders won 4-0 to move into the top four, level on points with second-placed Hutton Cranswick and Westella & Willerby.
Thompson, whose only previous experience at this level came as a substitute against Hedon United two seasons ago, came off the bench in the 58th minute and scored with his first touch to make it 3-0.
He then converted Ian Barrow’s cross fourteen minutes from time, further adding to the twelve league goals scored for the Reserves this season in the County League Premier Division.
Earlier, Steve Harrod had given Easington a 7th minute lead after fine work by Mike Nicholson. Ollie Musgrove made it 2-0 on the half hour mark.
Further incident came five minutes from time when Easington goalkeeper Kevin Appleyard saved Adrian Cooper’s penalty but an otherwise perfect day for the visitors was marred two minutes later when John Batch was controversially dismissed for a second yellow card.
Easington face another all-Holderness affair this Saturday, away at Withernsea. Rob Kamis and Luke Jeffery could both come into contention for places but skipper Neil Rutter is away on business and Craig Smalley serves a week’s suspension.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures / Team News:
The Eastenders go to Withernsea this Saturday for another Holderness Derby in the HPL Premier Division. Manager Mack is without skipper Neil Rutter (work) and Craig Smalley (suspended) but should be able to call upon Rob Kamis and Luke Jeffery after both were ruled out last weekend by work commitments and holiday respectively.
The Reserves are scheduled to entertain Boothferry Rangers in the County League Premier Division. However, at time of going to print, it must be said that the chances of any football taking place at Low Farm appears somewhat remote given the state of the “Seaside Road End” goalmouth, which was used for “recreational” purposes during the recent half-term holidays!
Other News:
Junior Coaching sessions continue at Low Farm this and every Saturday (10-11.30am). Please check with Dan (07703 517525) or Rich (01964 650133) with regards to on problems with the pitch etc.
The Club Committee is delighted to announce the sale of ten corporate tables for the Diamond Celebration Event at the Country Park Inn, Hessle on Saturday, 30 June. Individual tickets for the event, at which Jack Charlton OBE is guest speaker, are priced £30 and can be obtained by ringing Craig (01964 630933) or Neil (01964 626402).
