Holderness Advertiser 14th February
THE weather disrupted the Humber Premier League programme last Saturday with all but one game wiped out by a mixture of frozen pitches and persistent rainfall. The all-Holderness affair between Easington United and Withernsea was one of the casualties.
Weather permitting, the Eastenders face another local derby this Saturday. They’re set to meet Hedon Rangers at the Destiny Fitness Centre Ground, Saltend.
Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas should have plenty of scope for selection given that the Reserve team is, at the moment, without a fixture. Striker Darren Thompson is again in line to make his first HPL appearance of the season, following his fine form with the Reserves. Ollie Musgrove is also available, having initially been ruled out of the Withernsea game by East Riding County FA commitments, while youngsters Adam Metcalf and Luke Jeffery may also come into the frame.
The County League programme was also badly affected last Saturday. However, one game that did take place was the Harold Robinson Cup tie in which D.A.D.S. overcame Withernsea 3rds. The Hull side now provide this week’s next round opponents for the Eastenders Casuals at either Low Farm or Humbleton.
Tickets are now on sale for Easington United’s ‘Diamond Celebration’ event, which takes place at the Country Park Inn, Hessle on 30 June. Guest speaker is England “1966 World Cup Legend” Jack Charlton OBE, with MC Malcolm Lord. Tickets are priced £30 and can be obtained by ringing Craig Foster on 01964 630933 or 07794 196477.

Return to action in Destiny’s hands
After a combination of frozen pitches and persistent rain forced postponement of all three scheduled games involving Easington teams last Saturday, fingers will be kept tightly crossed in the hope we get some action this weekend.
In the Humber Premier League, the Eastenders are set to make the short trip to the Destiny Fitness Centre Ground at Saltend to take on Hedon Rangers (2.00pm). Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas should have plenty of scope for selection given that the Reserve team is, at the moment, without a fixture. Striker Darren Thompson is again in line to make his first HPL appearance of the season, following his fine form with the Reserves, while Ollie Musgrove is also available, having initially been ruled out last week by East Riding County FA commitments.
In view of the recent weather and with this being the first meeting of the two teams this season, agreement has been reached to switch the game to Low Farm should that become a more viable option.
Meanwhile, either Humbleton or Low Farm is in line to witness the Casuals entertain DADS FC in the third round of the County League’s Harold Robinson Cup. This follows the Hull side’s win at Withernsea last Saturday in one of the few games to beat the weather.
Away from the action, the Club is pleased to announce confirmation of its acceptance into the FA’s “Three Lions FC” School-Club Link Programme for 2007.
Other News:
Training has now resumed at Endeavour School on Monday nights (7-8pm).
Following another postponement due to the elements last week, the Junior Coaching Sessions resume at Low Farm on Saturday (10am and 11.30am). Parents are again advised to ring either Dan (07703 517525) or Rich (01964 650133) to check on problems with the pitch etc.
The Club Committee have been delighted with the response to last week’s Press Release regarding the “Diamond Celebration” event at Hessle Country Park on Saturday, 30 June, at which “World Cup Legend” Jack Charlton OBE is guest speaker. Several corporate tables have been sold in the wake of this, priced £300. Along with individual tickets (priced £30) these can be bought by contacting Craig Foster (01964 630933 / 07794 196477) and/or Neil Rutter (01964 626402 / 07795 530504).
