EASINGTON United manager Dave Mackay-Dundas celebrated his first full year in charge by steering his side to their most impressive win of the season to date.
Goals from Ollie Musgrove, Andy Graham and Rob Kamis helped The Eastenders to a 3-1 victory at Westella & Willerby. It was only the second defeat of the season for the Humber Premier League’s second-placed club and a result that lifted Easington to fifth place, within three points of their hosts.
Easington fully deserved their win although Westella threatened a comeback of sorts when Mike Bartlett reduced arrears at 1-2 on 65mins.
Mackay-Dundas was full of praise for his rejuvenated side who overcame the pre-match loss of Paul Wilkinson and Steve Harrod. Ex-Anlaby United duo John Batch and Rob Kamis both shone against their former club’s traditional rivals, with the latter’s 80th minute goal capping an impressive full debut.
The win was Easington’s third in a row and should give them confidence ahead of this week’s trip to Hornsea Town in the Grays League Cup. Like Westella, Hornsea are going well in the HPL and Saturday’s 7-2 defeat of Withernsea maintained their challenge in third place. Coincidentally, Town also accounted for the Eastenders in this competition at the same stage last season.
Elsewhere, a wet Low Farm pitch again deprived the Eastenders Reserves of a fixture last weekend. This Saturday they’re set to entertain Reckitts Reserves in the County League Premier Division. The Casuals – who lost 6-1 at Long Riston Reserves on Saturday – entertain Division 4 leaders Skidby Millers Reserves at Humbleton.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures:
This Saturday’s fixture is possibly the most important of the Eastenders’ season. They go to Hornsea Town in the second round of the Grays League Cup, a competition that provides manager Mack with his one realistic hope of silverware. However, the hosts are in tremendous form this term and lie third in the table. They will be looking to repeat their win of last season’s competition when they dumped Easington out at the same stage. Manager Mack should have strikers Paul Wilkinson and Steve Harrod available again after both missed out last weekend.
Following yet another postponement last Saturday, John Clarke’s Reserve side will hope to resume action when Reckitts Reserves are set to visit Low Farm in the County League Premier Division. The Eastenders beat their opponents 5-0 back in October but the visitors have recruited significantly since then. Meanwhile, the Casuals face Division 4 leaders Skidby Millers Reserves at Humbleton.
Other News:
Following two postponements, a decent weather forecast for the week means the Club is confident of at last holding the first of its intended Junior Coaching Sessions this Saturday (3rd). As always, please check with Daniel Campbell (07703 517525) or Rich Lusmore (01964 650133) in case of any problems. Remember: the sessions are open to boys and girls aged 12 and under and begin at 10.00am.
The Eastenders 100 Club recently held both its December and January Draws, with the results as follows: (Dec) £25, No.67 – David Clubley; £15, No.95 – Ted Stamp; £10, No.4 – Paul Nicholls; £5, No.141 – Tom Graham; £5, No.137 – Stewart Cousins; (Jan) £25, No.40 – Frank Douglas; £15, No.36 – David Mills; £10, No.139 – Luke Smith; £5, No.83 – Daniel Medforth; £5, No.27 – Jeff Sugden
Tickets are now available for the “Diamond Celebration” event at Hessle Country Park on Saturday, 30 June at which “World Cup Legend” Jack Charlton OBE is guest speaker. Tickets are priced £30 and can be bought by contacting Craig Foster (01964 630933) and/or Neil Rutter (01964 626402).
