EASINGTON United will look to build on their solid ‘Derby’ win over Hedon United when they travel to Norwood Park to meet Beverley Town this Saturday (2.00pm).
Last weekend The Eastenders repeated their 3-0 away win over Hedon in a wind-affected contest at Low Farm.
All the goals came in the first half, during which Easington enjoyed the elements at their backs.
The first came from the penalty spot on 21mins, Daniel Medforth converting after Craig Palmer was adjudged to have fouled Steve Harrod.
The second and third goals were further contenders for Craig Smalley’s personal collection of ‘goals of the season’. Having struck a stunner at Hessle Rangers back in October, Smalley repeated the feat twice to secure the points in this game.
Both came from corners that the Hedon defence failed to clear. In the 32nd minute, he latched onto a defensive header about twenty yards out on the right side of the penalty box and struck a tremendous volley that pinged into the net off the far post.
Then, right on the stroke of half-time, Smalley was in the right place to meet another clearance and this time beat goalkeeper Pete Martin with a thirty-yard shot that flew into the top corner.
Hedon’s misery was completed by the second half dismissal of Craig Palmer and the game ended in near farce following a series of tetchy off-the-ball incidents that the referee appeared powerless to deal with.
Saturday’s trip to Beverley is the first of two difficult away games in succession. Norwood is rarely a happy hunting ground for the Eastenders and this is followed a week later by a trip to second-placed Westella & Willerby.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures / Team News:
This Saturday the First Team go to one of their less successful venues, Norwood Park, to take on Beverley Town. Manager Mack is again without the suspended Andy Graham, while both Dan Potts and Mark Richardson are expected to continue their comebacks with the Reserves.
Following postponement of both County League games involving Easington sides last Saturday, both hope to return to action this weekend. The Reserves are set to entertain Premier Division leaders Howden Amateurs and will be looking to atone for a disappointing 5-1 defeat at Ashes Park earlier in the season. Meanwhile the Casuals go to promotion hopefuls Skirlaugh.
Other News:
Thanks to Mike Wilson Butchers, Patrington for last week’s HPL match sponsorship.
Saturday’s winning Golden Goal time was 21 minutes.
There is a Coffee Morning in aid of Club Funds, taking place on Saturday in the Church Hall (10am).
Finally, a reminder: the Club is beginning Junior Coaching Sessions at Low Farm this Saturday (20 January, 10-11.30am). The sessions are open to boys & girls aged under 12 and anybody interested should call Daniel Campbell on 07703 517525. It is also advisable to contact Daniel with regards to any potential problems with the weather and/or pitch.
