SCULCOATES Amateurs manager Mark Petch was at Low Farm to witness Easington United’s return to winning ways in the Humber Premier League.
The Hull side entertain the Eastenders this Saturday and it will be interesting to see what Petch learned from a definite game of two halves against Pocklington Town.
Easington totally dominated proceedings up to the break and came off 3-1 up courtesy of goals from Ian Barrow, Paul Wilkinson and Mike Nicholson; Rob Gibson having levelled matters briefly at 1-1 on 20mins.
The second half, however, left manager Dave Mackay-Dundas disappointed despite Ollie Musgrove adding a fourth goal for the Eastenders.
Goalkeeper Kevin Appleyard made two excellent saves to preserve Easington’s healthy advantage as the home side avenged October’s defeat at The Balk.
Plus points for the boss came with a man of the match display from Nicholson and an impressive debut from Jamie Heard. Meanwhile, youngsters Adam Metcalf and Jamie Cousins continued their education at this level, both just about holding their own as Easington clocked up their seventh win of the season.
Manager Mack has an injury worry over goalkeeper Appleyard ahead of Saturday’s trip to Hull & ER Sports Club but has Craig Smalley available again after suspension, while Dan Potts could come back after missing the Pocklington game through injury.
While Easington go to the leaders this week, the Reserves entertain their Sculcoates counterparts at Low Farm in the County League Premier Division. Last Saturday a Craig Foster hat-trick helped them claim a point in a 4-4 draw at Bridlington side Poachers.
