EASINGTON United go into back-to-back home games knowing they can still have a big say in the destiny of the Humber Premier League title.
Last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at reigning champions Reckitts, while frustrating inasmuch as the Eastenders surrendered a two-goal lead, provided further evidence of the current squad’s ability to compete with the best this division has to offer.
Indeed, had it not been for a contentious penalty decision at the start of the second half, Easington would probably have been celebrating a well-deserved victory.
They led at the break, courtesy of a bizarre goal from John Batch (a free kick from inside his own half) and a third in as many games from Steve Harrod, and passed up several other good opportunities.
Kevin Milner and Paul Wilkinson were both forced to retire with injury by half-time but the game should have been over before Steve Lapping “earned” his side a controversial penalty two minutes into the second half.
Gareth Bairstow duly converted from the spot and Lapping then levelled matters on the hour mark.
Even now Easington should have won the game but Ollie Musgrove passed up a glorious opening eight minutes from time.
Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas has injury concerns over Milner and Wilkinson ahead of this week’s game against Hutton Cranswick, while Craig Smalley begins a two-week suspension.
On the plus side, Craig Sharpless made an encouraging debut as Milner’s replacement at Reckitts.
The Reserves are at Viking Raiders in the County League Premier Division while the Casuals entertain Molescroft Rangers Reserves at Humbleton in Division 4.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures / Team News:
The First Team go into the first of back-to-back home games this Saturday with Hutton Cranswick the visitors to Low Farm (2.00pm). Manager Mack has injury concerns over Milner and Wilkinson, while Senior is still out and Walmsley very doubtful. In addition Craig Smalley begins a two-week suspension. Cranswick arrive at the Farm having just arrested a poor run of form with a 5-0 win at Hedon United last time out.
After last weekend’s late withdrawals and the injury/absent list at first team level, it’s pointless speculating on the possible make-up of either the Reserves or Casuals squads for this weekend’s games.
The Stiffs will look to put last week’s horror show behind them when they travel to Goole to face Viking Raiders. Manager Clarke will be hoping his side can repeat the heartening display shown at home against the same opponents earlier in the season when they were unfortunate to go down by the odd goal in seven.
The Casuals entertain Molescroft Rangers Reserves at Humbleton in Division 4, following further delays with the secondary strip down at Low Farm.
Other News:
Due to the late postponement of the Hedon Rangers game a fortnight ago, the ‘Golden Goal’ time and match programmes were both utilised for the Reserves’ meeting with FC Ridings last Saturday. The winning Golden Goal time was 2mins.
The November winners of the Eastenders 100 Club are: £25, 111 David Cooper; £15, 33 Andy Clubley; £10, 45 Pete Law; £5, 140 Brett Fisk and £5, 77 Darren Dawson
The Club is delighted to announce two brand new sponsorship deals with ABB Engineering Ltd and the Holderness Gazette; further details of both to follow in due course.
