THE weather frustrated Easington United’s attempts to build on their recent run of good form in the Humber Premier League.
On a day when only two HPL fixtures survived, heavy Saturday morning rain forced postponement of the scheduled home game against Hedon Rangers.
Weather permitting, the Eastenders’ will resume action this weekend when they travel to Hull University to face reigning champions Reckitts.
Realistically, it’s a must win game for the Eastenders who lie six points adrift of their hosts and have played a game more.
When the two sides met at Low Farm last month, Reckitts repeated their 6-1 win of the previous year. However, Dave Mack’s side enjoy a far better record on their opponents’ ground having not lost there in five meetings.
Easington look set to include new signing Craig Sharpless in their squad. The midfielder has joined the club from Reckitts, having previously been a regular in the Winterton Rangers side prior to sustaining an ankle injury.
In addition, Kevin Milner, Dave Walmsley and Ollie Musgrove could all be challenging for places again after illness, injury and ER duty, respectively, ruled them out of selection for last week’s scheduled fixture.
The Eastenders two County League squads were also inactive last Saturday and the Reserves may face another blank fixture this weekend – opponents FC Ridings are struggling to field a team and were forced to concede last week’s scheduled H. E. Dean Cup tie between the two teams due to similar problems. The Casuals travel to meet Holme Rovers Reserves In Division 4.

Wet, Wet, Wet
HEAVY rainfall caused the postponement of two of the Eastenders’ scheduled fixtures last Saturday, with the Reserves benefiting from a “walkover” in the other.
The First Team’s home game against Hedon Rangers had looked like surviving until a torrential downpour mid-morning last Saturday finally put paid to any hopes.
The Eastenders now turn their attention to this week’s trip to reigning champions Reckitts.

Easington look set to include new signing Craig Sharpless in their squad. The 25-year-old left-sided midfield player joined the club last week from Reckitts, having been a regular in the Winterton Rangers squad in the Northern Counties East League prior to an ankle injury.
In addition, Kevin Milner, Dave Walmsley and Ollie Musgrove could be challenging for places again after illness, injury and ER duty, respectively, ruled them out of selection for last week’s scheduled fixture.
Overnight rain on the Friday did for the Casuals’ scheduled Division 4 game at leaders Skidby Millers Reserves. The same factors may well have come into play for the Reserves’ HE Dean Cup tie at FC Ridings had the struggling Hull outfit not already conceded the tie to John Clarke’s side due to an inability to field a team.
It’s a situation that Ridings secretary Malcolm Reeves admits is getting critical and he’s already warned the locals that this Saturday’s scheduled Premier Division meeting at Low Farm is by no means certain to go ahead.
Should it do, John Clarke could be faced with an “abundance of riches” from which to choose in terms of selection. Given the options currently available to first team boss Dave Mack, Clarke could be allocated some senior squad members in addition to the anticipated return of Luke Jeffery and Tom McLaughlin (back from ERCFA U16 duty) and possibly Jamie Cousins, should the latter have recovered from a hamstring injury.
The Reserves are set to unveil their new playing strip this weekend, kindly sponsored by Deborah Services Limited.
Casuals boss Doug Clubley takes his team to Holme Rovers Reserves with Mike Hooley and Jodi Stow set to be available again after injury.
Darren Dawson remains sidelined for another week while Joni Purse has work commitments.
