DESPITE slipping to their fourth HPL defeat of the season, Easington United’s management were heartened by their team’s performance at North Ferriby United Reserves.
Afterwards, assistant-manager Dave Walmsley said, “We’ve totally dominated things and somehow got beat 3-2. I’d go so far as to say we’ve played better today than we did in winning at Hessle but we’ve paid for not taking our chances and for three defensive errors”.
The Eastenders led through Mike Nicholson’s eighth minute strike and could have had things sewn up inside the opening half hour, only the bar and goalkeeper Glen Powley keeping the hosts in the game.
However, two defensive slips in the ten minutes prior to the break allowed Adam Wilberforce and Alex Reveley to turn the game on its head and a third, when Mark Griffin eluded three defenders before scoring, clinched matters after Danny Medforth had netted a deserved equaliser.
The Eastenders, who also saw a strong penalty appeal waved away and had a late ‘goal’ chalked off for offside, must now look to return to winning ways when Barton Town Reserves visit Low Farm.
Stuart Campbell is available after missing out last week but sore ribs again make Dave Walmsley doubtful.
The Eastenders Reserves return to action with a trip to Holme Rovers in the ER County League Premier Division, while the Casuals have a week off in Division 4 having gained their first points of the season courtesy of a 3-2 win over Leven. Dave Clubley, Rich Clubley and Dave Hurren were their scorers.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures / Team News:
At time of going to print there are only two games in store for the locals this weekend. At Low Farm, the first team will look to return to winning ways when they entertain Barton Town OB Reserves (2.00pm).
Heartened by recent performances, manager Mack looks set to keep faith with those on duty at Ferriby, although asst-mgr Walmsley (if fit) and the returning Stu Campbell could come into contention.
Buoyed by their last performance, against Old George, the Reserves will be hoping to complete their first ‘double’ of the season when they visit Holme Rovers in the County League Premier Division. Manager Clarke will wait to see whether Senior and Metcalf remain with the first team squad but should be able to call upon Jeffery and McLaughlin, following recent absence. Mike Hooley may also be available again after injury.
At the moment, the Casuals are without a fixture. They return to action away at Long Riston Reserves in the League Cup on 18 November.
Other News:
