EASINGTON United return to Humber Premier League action this weekend with manager Dave Mackay-Dundas looking for a “new beginning” after a week’s inactivity.
In addition to a run of three straight league defeats and an embarrassing exit from the County Cup, the Eastenders also saw several players leave the Club prior to last weekend’s blank fixture.
The latest departures were Gavin Thurkettle, due to new work commitments, and Tony Hunt who has rejoined his old club Reckitts.
On Saturday Easington meet Hessle Rangers at the Blackburn Sports Ground in Brough, a ground on which they’ve picked up just a solitary point from their last four visits.
That came via Craig Foster’s late equaliser last season and manager Mack would no doubt settle for a similar result this time round.
He said, “We’ve got to start by tightening things up. We’ve gone from being a team that’s difficult to beat to one that all of a sudden is shipping goals.”
On the plus side, goalkeeper Kevin Appleyard returns from suspension and Mike Nicholson is also available.
Hessle’s fortunes have picked up somewhat since their 3-0 defeat at Low Farm in August and they were reportedly unlucky to lose at leaders North Ferriby last week.
The Easington manager’s search for inspiration from the reserve ranks proved disappointing. He saw them lose 4-1 at home to Northfield Athletic in the ER County League Premier Division.
There was also disappointment for the Casuals who lost 6-3 at Brandesburton 3rds, their fourth defeat in as many games in Division 4.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures / Team News:
The senior squad return to Humber Premier League action this weekend with a difficult looking trip to the Blackburn Sports Ground at Brough to face Hessle Rangers.
Their opponents’ fortunes have improved somewhat since the Eastenders beat them 3-0 earlier in the season and their home ground is one on which Easington have taken only one point in the last four meetings.
Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas has seen Gavin Thurkettle and Tony Hunt become the latest departures from his squad but has been boosted by Kevin Milner’s decision not to join Westella & Willerby.
Goalkeeper Kevin Appleyard should return from suspension, Mike Nicholson is also available and it awaits to be seen whether ex-North Ferriby man Mark Richardson will come straight into the squad following his transfer from Beverley side Hodgsons.
Reserves boss John Clarke will await first team selection with interest. He has a doubt over Mike Hooley ahead of the clash with Premier Division leaders Old George at Low Farm.
Meanwhile Doug Clubley is without the Purse brothers and skipper Iain McNaught for the Casuals’ trip to DADS FC.
Other News:
A reminder that Craig Foster is the contact for the ‘Diamond Celebration’ polo shirts recently issued. Available in most sizes the shirts are £15 and can be ordered by ringing 01964 630933.
The first 100 Club Draw of the season is set to take place on Tuesday, 31 October. Anybody still wishing to join should ring Doug Clubley on 01964 650376 ASAP.
