THE panic button is not being pushed yet but these are worrying times for Easington United manager Dave Mackay-Dundas.
Saturday’s 6-1 home defeat by Reckitts was accompanied by the Eastenders’ worst home performance since the reigning Humber Premier League champions wrapped up a similar result last December.
Goals from Chris Clinton and Rich Harrison gave Reckitts a 2-0 interval lead but when Andy Graham pulled a goal back from the penalty spot inside two minutes of the restart, there appeared to be a glimmer of hope for the large home crowd.
However, Richard Harrison – who’d escaped with a yellow card for the goal-line handball that led to Graham’s penalty – then popped up to make it 3-1 on 61 minutes and further goals from Adam Crane, Gareth Barstow and Luke Power simply rubbed salt in the wounds.
Manager Mack said afterwards, “Everybody had off days today, which you simply cannot afford to do against any team at this level, let alone Reckitts.”
Easington now turn their attention to the East Riding Senior Cup in which they face holders Sculcoates Amateurs away. Last season ‘Scully’ became the first HPL side to lift the trophy when they beat Hull City at the KC Stadium.
The Eastenders are without Phil Jackman, who has signed for Bottesford Town, but may welcome Tony Hunt back to action following a family bereavement.
Easington’s reserve side saw their cup hopes disappear with a 3-1 defeat at North Cave in the ER Senior Country Cup, while the Casuals begin their Junior Country Cup campaign this Saturday against Leven MC Reserves at Low Farm.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures / Team News:
The Eastenders go to holders Sculcoates Amateurs this Saturday in the first round of the ER Senior Cup. Their opponents became the first HPL team to lift the trophy when they defeated Hull City at the KC Stadium in last season’s final.
Manager Mack is awaiting the results of an official approach for Westella & Willerby goalkeeper Liam Taylor, as well as news of the availability of Tony Hunt and Danny Medforth before naming his squad.
John Clarke could have his missing quartet from last week available when the reserves return to league action at Reckitts Reserves. However, any changes will have to take into account the fact that the players who figured at North Cave last weekend are now cup-tied for the Casuals’ Junior Country Cup meeting with Leven MC Reserves at Low Farm.
Casuals boss Doug Clubley is still without Dave Hurren and Jodi Stow for that game, with Matty Findley and Steve Ward also absent and Neil Rutter dependent on any reaction to last week’s outing.
Other News
The first Eastenders 100 Club draw of the season will now take place at the next monthly Committee meeting (Tue 31st). Anybody still wishing to join should ring Doug (Club Chairman) on 01964 650376.
The next Coffee Morning fund-raiser takes place on Saturday, 4th November. Any prizes etc can be directed via Judy (Club Sec.).
