EASINGTON United entertain champions Reckitts this Saturday, desperate to return to winning ways in their last Humber Premier League game for three weeks.
In what appears to be one of the most openly contested campaigns since the league’s inception, all four of the top five teams in action last weekend dropped points.
Leaders Hutton Cranswick and third placed Sculcoates both slipped to surprise defeats and Reckitts were held at home by Westella & Willerby.
Meanwhile, Easington suffered their first ever defeat at Pocklington Town thanks to Owen Ellis’ 84th minute goal in a 2-1 scoreline.
Earlier, player asst-mgr Dave Walmsley had marked his first start of the campaign with a stunning first half equaliser to cancel out Shaun Roberts’ early opener.
With the Eastenders on ER Cup duty on Saturday week before having a blank date on the 21st, manager Dave Mackay-Dundas knows his team can ill-afford to drop further off the pace.
But he must overcome the reigning champions without either his first or second choice goalkeepers. Kevin Appleyard begins a three-week suspension and Chris Rawlings is still out injured.
The Easington boss does however have Phil Jackman, Gavin Thurkettle and Ian Barrow all vying for places.
The Eastenders Reserves went down 4-3 at home to Viking Raiders in the County League Premier Division. Daniel Campbell, Jamie Cousins and Craig Foster were on target for Easington who this weekend face HPL Division 1 side North Cave away in the ER Senior Country Cup.
Finally, a depleted Casuals side were hammered 6-1 by neighbours Patrington Stanley Utd in County League 4.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures / Team News:
Reigning HPL champions Reckitts visit Low Farm this Saturday in what is already a crucial game for those hopeful of challenging for league honours.
Having dropped 5pts themselves already this term, Dave Start’s side will be keen for a repeat of their last two visits at Easington, which both resulted in wins.
Manager Mack has a serious goalkeeping problem with both first and second choice keepers missing (Appleyard suspended, Rawlings injured) but has an abundance of outfield options with Jackman, Thurkettle and Barrow all available again.
The Reserves go to HPL Division 1 side North Cave in the first round of the ER Senior Country Cup. Manager Clarke will await the first team squad announcement with interest as will Casuals boss Clubley whose side are set to entertain Long Riston Reserves in Division 4. At time of going to print there is uncertainty over the venue of this fixture – please check with Doug (01964 650376) for confirmation.
Other News:
Thanks to everybody who supported last Saturday’s Race Night at The Granby. This includes the various race sponsors – Lorna @the Granby, Brummitt Animal Health, Craig Stephenson, BMtec, Loxley Builders, Harrison-Solway Logistics Ltd, J. L. Clarke, The Hair Gallery and Andy Medcalf – all those who bought horses including the £228 raised by auctioning off race 10’s horses, and of course the “punters” who helped raise over £350 on the Tote. The total amount raised, including the raffle, is expected to be in the region of £800.00.
The next big fundraiser on the agenda is the “Bridge Too Far Walk” on Boxing Day, being organised by the Diamond Celebration sub-committee. Entry criteria requirements are for a minimum £50 sponsorship pledge and further details can be obtained by ringing Craig Foster on 01964 630933.
