EASINGTON United go to Pocklington Town this Saturday looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season.
However, they travel to Pocklington without three hitherto regulars. Strikers Gavin Thurkettle and Phil Jackman are both missing as is winger Ian Barrow.
The Balk is traditionally a happy hunting ground for Easington and manager Dave Mackay-Dundas will hope that trend continues after what he termed a “very disappointing” second half display at Hutton Cranswick.
After Stuart Campbell had headed the Eastenders into a 3rd minute lead, two Tom Cooper penalties early in the second half and skipper Mark Pratley’s late goal clinched Cranswick the points in a 3-1 scoreline.
Mackay-Dundas said, “I think the lads thought ‘job done’ at half time and they simply didn’t perform after the break.”
He was also disappointed with the first penalty decision and the referee’s failure to allow what would have been an 85th minute equaliser for Steve Harrod. He said, “The referee’s played advantage all game and then fails to be consistent when it matters most.”
Danny Medforth boosted his chances of an immediate return to the senior squad with two goals in the Reserves’ 3-2 win over Holme Rovers in the ER County League Premier Division at Low Farm. Luke Smith got the Eastenders’ first.
Debutant Matty Purse scored twice and Dave Clubley also netted as the Casuals fought back from 5-0 down at half-time before losing 5-3 at Leven in County League 4.

CLUB NOTES
Forthcoming Fixtures / Team News:
The First Team go to Pocklington this Saturday without three hitherto regulars. Strike duo Phil Jackman and Gavin Thurkettle are both missing, as is winger Ian Barrow. The Balk is a traditionally happy hunting ground for the Eastenders and manager Mack will look to bounce straight back from Saturday’s setback ahead of the home game with Reckitts on 7 October.
The Reserves will be hoping to build on their first win when Viking Raiders visit Low Farm. The former Rawcliffe Bridge side have won both their league games this season as well as dumping highly-fancied Northfield out of the League Senior Cup. Manager Clarke could have Foster and Hooley available again but will be aware of any first team call-ups to cover Dave Mack’s aforementioned absentees.
There is a local derby in store for the Casuals, who go to Patrington Stanley Utd Reserves. New signing Chris Smith could well gain a place in the squad, with Adam Swaby also in line for his first appearance of the season.
Other News:
A reminder that Saturday sees the Club holding a ‘Race Night’ in The Granby. First race is at 8.00pm; all support welcome.
The Club is delighted to announce that “World Cup Legend” Jack Charlton OBE is to be the guest speaker at the Eastenders’ Diamond Celebration, held at The Country Park Inn, Hessle on 30 June 2007. Further details and ticket news will follow in due course.
