FOR the first time this season, Easington United manager Dave Mackay-Dundas was left disappointed with his team, despite seeing them come back twice to force a draw against North Ferriby United Reserves.
He said, “I thought the players appeared flat beforehand for some reason and their first half performance showed that. Defensively we were all over the place and the only consolation was that we always looked like scoring ourselves at the other end.”
Having comfortably beaten Hessle Rangers in midweek, the Eastenders were given the perfect start on Saturday when Andy Graham scored after just 4 minutes.
However, two goals from Andy Taylor in as many minutes swung the game the visitors’ way before Stuart Campbell levelled matters on 27 minutes.
Taylor completed his hat-trick to nudge second-placed Ferriby back in front only for Gavin Thurkettle to head home a third Easington goal just before half-time.
Despite shading matters in terms of possession after the break and forcing six successive corners at one point, Easington simply couldn’t find a winner.
The Eastenders were set to continue their hectic start to the Humber Premier League season away at Hornsea Town last night, before entertaining Beverley Town at Low Farm this Saturday (2.00pm).
Adam Metcalf is away but both Tony Hunt and Steve Harrod are now back from injury, while Chris Senior and Kevin Milner are available again after holidays.
