EASINGTON United’s preparations for the new Humber Premier League season continue tomorrow when they visit Brandesburton AFC for a 6.45pm kick-off.
Manager Dave Mackay-Dundas will hope to maintain the improvement shown in Friday’s game against Hull City Juniors, which kept a large Low Farm crowd entertained from start to finish.
The Eastenders were beaten 3-1 by the young Tigers, having shaded a first half in which Bill Law’s 29th minute opener for City was cancelled out by skipper Andy Graham’s reply from the penalty spot.
The visitors enjoyed more control in the second half and Will Atkinson seized on some sloppy defensive work to make it 2-1.
Tigers’ manager Phil Parkinson was among the spectators and will have been impressed with Matthew Plummer’s 35-yard shot that effectively settled matters on 70 minutes.
There was no shortage of entertainment the following day when the Eastenders shared twelve goals with HPL Division 1 side St Andrews Police Club.
First team assistant boss Dave Walmsley and youngster Jamie Cousins both bagged a brace apiece with the other goals in a 6-6 draw coming from Adam Metcalf and new boy Omar Camara.
Next week Easington United, in conjunction with the ERCFA, are staging a “3 Lions FC” Football Fun Week for boys & girls aged 6-14. The three-day course culminates with a game between Easington and the ER County Juniors Rep side. Further details can be obtained by phoning the ERCFA office on 01482-221158.
